Allergic diseases are amongst the most prevalent diseases worldwide and the burden of these diseases continues to increase. One major cause of the high incidence of allergies over the last decades is our modern lifestyle. A life mostly indoors, stress, insomnia, a completely changed diet compared to the macronutrients of our ancestors, the increased exposure to chemicals and pollutants and an exaggerated sanitised way of life that protects us from germs have joined to make us susceptible to these chronic ailments.
An allergy is caused by the immune system fighting substances (allergens) from the environment that it normally should detect as harmless. Contact of these allergens with our immune system can lead to allergic reactions.
The most common environmental triggers and symptoms of allergies:
More and more people are affected and suffer from an overreaction of the immune system to substances from the environment like foods, chemical products, insect poison, medication, plant pollen, certain metals or environmental pollution.
Some environmental substances can trigger an immune reaction with unpleasant clinical symptoms such as asthma attacks, accompanied by shortness of breath, skin rash, hives, sore eyes (conjunctivitis), bloating, diarrhoea, vomiting, hair loss, swelling, fatigue, low energy levels and cognitive decline. In the worst-case scenario, an allergic reaction can even trigger a life-threatening anaphylactic shock.
Currently, testing for immunoglobulin E (IgE) sensitization is the cornerstone of the diagnostic evaluation in suspected allergic conditions.
The IgE antibody test helps with the diagnosis of allergies
For the successful treatment of allergies, it is critical to determine the responsible substances (allergen) that trigger allergic reactions. In the Medkore+Elysium Allergy Profiler, we determine your personal hypersensitivity profile and identify possible cross-reactions that can trigger allergies.
How does IgE allergy testing work?
We send you an easy to use Test Kit with instructions to your location. You will carry out the blood analysis on your own and send us your blood sample. Our laboratory will perform the IgE antibody test and determine your sensitivity to more than 280 different allergens. These include your sensitivity to pollen, animals, foods, metals and many important chemicals which are used in our environment. Since we only use a blood sample to determine your personal allergy risks, the examination is completely risk-free because you are not exposed directly to the potential allergen.
After the analysis has been carried out successfully, we summarize the results in a detailed written report. This comprehensive expertise outlines in detail which substances can trigger allergic reactions. Our preventive medicine experts will provide you with valuable solutions on how to prevent an allergic reaction in the future, as well as therapeutic suggestions.
